DOCX · WORD 2007+
The locked-down copy
Nobody sends the Word file. It carries your edits in the margins, last month’s draft in the revisions, and renders differently on every machine it lands on. The finished move is a PDF: fixed pages, no history, opens the same everywhere. This line produces exactly that — reading your .docx locally, setting its text and images as a typeset document, and letting your own browser render the final pages as vector PDF.
The two-step finish is deliberate: the print dialog shows you every page before the PDF exists, so nothing ships half-checked. And because conversion happens in the tab, the contract, CV or medical form you’re locking down never touches anyone’s server — ours or anyone else’s.
Questions people ask
Do I need Microsoft Word installed?
No. The converter reads the .docx file format directly in your browser — headings, body text, lists, tables and embedded images all come through. It works on Chromebooks, library computers and phones where Office isn’t available.
Is a Word file converted this way safe to send?
Safer than sending the Word file itself. A PDF produced here contains none of the tracked changes, comments, hidden metadata or revision history a .docx quietly carries — which is exactly why recruiters and agencies ask for PDFs.
My layout looks different from Word’s print preview. Why?
.docx stores text and formatting instructions, not fixed pages; Word re-flows them using its own fonts and metrics. Complex magazine-style layouts may shift. For standard business documents the output matches closely — and you see every page in the print preview before saving.
What about old .doc files?
Only modern .docx (Word 2007 and later) is supported — the legacy binary format needs a full Office engine. Re-save the file as .docx from any recent Word, LibreOffice or Google Docs export and convert away.
