Privacy Policy

This policy covers filefinery.com: what happens to the files you convert (nothing leaves your device), what the print-shop finder does with your location, what advertising partners set, and the choices you have.

1. Your files are never uploaded

Every converter and PDF tool on this site runs as JavaScript inside your browser tab. When you add a file, it is read directly from your disk into the browser's memory, converted there, and returned to you as a download or a print preview. There is no upload step anywhere in the code, because the site is static files with no application server behind it, so there is nothing on our side that could receive a document.

You can verify this. Open your browser's developer tools, watch the Network tab while converting, and you will see no request carrying your data after the page itself has loaded. Or disconnect from the internet once the page is open: every conversion still runs.

Consequently we do not store, back up, transmit, share, sell, index, read or train any model on your documents. This matters more here than on most converter sites, because the files people turn into PDFs are contracts, medical forms, tax paperwork, résumés and identity documents. None of those reach us. We never have a copy to misuse or to lose.

2. Your location, on the print-shop finder

The print-shop finder can centre a map search near you two ways. You can type a town or postal code, which goes no further than your own browser. It is pasted into a map search URL when you click. Or you can press "Use my location", at which point your browser asks your permission to share coordinates with the page.

Those coordinates are used only to build the map links you then click. They are never stored, logged or transmitted to us, and they are forgotten the moment you leave the page. Following a link to an external map service takes you to that service, whose own privacy policy then applies.

3. Information we collect

• Your files and their contents: none. See section 1.
• Accounts: none exist. There is no sign-up, no login and no server-side session, so there is no account data to hold or leak.
• Server request logs: our static hosting provider records standard metadata for each page request (IP address, user agent, referring page, timestamp) for security and aggregate traffic counts. These logs describe requests for HTML, CSS and font files and never contain document data.
• Contact form submissions: if you write to us, the message, your email address and any name you supply are transmitted to and stored by Formspree, our form-handling provider, and forwarded to us by email under its own privacy policy. Formspree holds the dashboard copy for up to 30 days and then ages it out automatically; the notification email in our inbox we keep only as long as answering you requires, and you can ask us to delete it sooner.
• Browser storage: the tools may remember a conversion preference (page size, margin) on your own device. That value never reaches us.

4. Advertising and cookies

FileFinery is free and carries no paywall. It is funded by display advertising, which pays for the domain, the hosting and the time spent maintaining it. That advertising is served by third parties, and those third parties set cookies and similar technologies in your browser. Specifically:

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this and/or other sites on the internet.
• You may opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings, or opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices and, in Europe, at youronlinechoices.eu.
• If you have not opted out of third-party ad serving, cookies of other vendors or ad networks may also be used to serve ads on this site.

Advertising runs in its own frames and has no access to the documents you convert, which never leave your device in the first place. Blocking these cookies does not break any tool on the site.

5. Your rights in the EEA and UK (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, the right to data portability, and the right to complain to your national supervisory authority. Our lawful bases are: legitimate interest for security logging and aggregate traffic measurement; consent for personalised advertising cookies, collected through Google's consent management platform before such cookies are set; consent for the browser location permission, which you grant and can revoke in your browser; and legitimate interest for answering messages you choose to send us.

Because we hold no account data and never receive your files, an access or deletion request generally concerns only a contact-form message you sent. Write via the contact page and we will act within 30 days.

6. Your rights in California (CCPA/CPRA)

We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration. Under the CPRA, third-party advertising cookies used for cross-context behavioural advertising may count as "sharing"; you can opt out through the links in section 4, or by enabling Global Privacy Control in your browser, which we honour. California residents may request disclosure or deletion of personal information we hold, which in practice is limited to server logs and any message you sent us.

7. Children

FileFinery is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Since the site has no accounts and collects nothing beyond standard logs, there is no children's data set to speak of. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through the contact form, tell us and we will delete it.

8. Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Because there is no server-side processing, no user accounts and no stored files, the catastrophic failure modes of a document converter (a leaked storage bucket, a compromised processing queue, an exposed database of other people's paperwork) do not exist here by construction. If you find a security issue, the contact page reaches the developer directly and reports are welcome.

9. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of the page and describe what changed. Continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

FileFinery is operated by Studio Ropewalk, LLC, a limited liability company registered in North Carolina, United States. For privacy questions, data requests or anything else, use the contact page, which reaches the developer directly. We answer privacy requests within 30 days.
