Converting locally — nothing is uploaded

FileFinery turns images, Word files and text documents into finished PDFs right here in your browser. No uploads, no queue, no watermark — and when you need real paper, we’ll find you a press that can print it.

On the floor: how the line runs

A traditional bindery takes printed sheets and makes them finished: trimmed square, folded true, bound tight. FileFinery runs the same line for files. Your browser is the machinery — each converter reads its input straight from your disk, works in memory, and hands back a finished document without a single byte travelling to a server.

That architecture is the privacy promise, not a policy promise. When you convert a contract, a medical form or a draft résumé, there is no upload step to trust, no server log to purge, no retention window to believe in. The file physically cannot leave the tab, because the code that handles it never sends it anywhere.

Documents take a second pass through your browser’s own print engine — still offline — which renders vector text that stays sharp at any zoom and selectable in any reader. Images are placed on pages at your chosen trim, with phone-photo rotation corrected automatically.

Dispatch desk AFTER THE PDF

Some jobs aren’t finished until they’re on paper — leases, posters, a thesis your committee wants bound. Our print-shop finder ranks walk-in chains, online presses and public libraries for exactly what you’re printing, then opens map searches for independent shops near you.

Questions people ask

Are my files really never uploaded?

Really. Every converter on FileFinery runs inside your browser tab using JavaScript — your file is read straight off your disk, converted in memory, and handed back as a download or a print preview. You can watch the network tab: after the page loads, nothing leaves your machine.

How do I turn several photos into one PDF?

Drop them all on the table at once — they become numbered steps in the queue, press “Convert to PDF”, and one multi-page PDF downloads in the order shown. Drag within your file manager to fix the order before dropping.

Word to PDF: how faithful is the result?

Text, headings, lists, tables and images come through cleanly. Exotic layouts — multi-column magazines, tracked changes, embedded media — are simplified. The typeset preview opens in your browser’s print dialog, so you can check every page before you commit it to PDF.

What does “Save as PDF” mean?

Document conversions route through your browser’s print dialog because that’s where the highest-quality PDF writer you own lives. In the dialog’s destination picker, choose “Save as PDF” instead of a printer, then save. Nothing prints unless you say so.

What does FileFinery cost?

Nothing. The site is supported by the ad slots between sections — that’s the whole business model, so there’s no premium tier hiding better quality, no watermark, and no page limit.
